The driving force of a Space is atmosphere – atmosphere is being generated almost entirely through Light. This pendant lamp was designed for MADE - a rectangular grid of 225 ceiling lights over a dimension of 12 by 43 meters was suggested under which all flexible furniture and elements could be moved around. Instead of having a static and never changing light condition, the pendant lamp MADE 5 was invented – a system that is capable to produce any light condition formulated through light intensity, temperature and color.
The light condition that generates the necessary brightness for an atelier, laboratory, or photo shoot, meaning the very bright events, was provided through a round fluorescent light tube. The amber component such as lounge, theater, event, sunrise or sunset etc. was introduced through a polar array of LEDs – the combination of these 2 light sources can be programmed and controlled via DMX in 4 Channels, meaning R,G, B, and newly – cold light. The 35 cm wide aluminium cooling body holds the light sources as well as the lampshade. It is the backbone for the electrical components as well as the simple mechanical hanging features. The pendant lamp MADE 5 can be adjusted easily in its height. For angular direction and use of spotlight, the lamp can be mounted on a tripod or auto-pole – all for a maximum of possibilities of how it might be used. It is a result of an interplay between hi-tec and lo-tec.
Besides the possibilities of mixing light, the light grid works as a screen that can transport messages in form of light fading, sequences, partly use, controlled through a server that is fed with a controlling device such as a touchscreen, a laptop – or IPhone.

The use of LED technology in everyday or professional situations is about to start and has already in many fields – The event character, meaning the flickering lights in nightclubs, the little ambient effect lights in tasteless apartments – the reduction of this light source to its blinking effect – is history. Contemporary design kept distance to the tacky aftertaste of these features so far.
The fluorescent light tube with the image of cold office buildings, empty warehouses, humming, and making everyone look sick – on the other hand being very efficient in contrast to the light bulb or other light sources is still very high. – The combination of these two elements through pendant lamp MADE 5 can provide the one, the other, and most importantly: the combination in one system.
